Today was quite a day. We had a day of preparation planned - heading to the church, setting up machines, and making welcome bags for the women were all on our to-do list, as well as a second shopping trip to Walmart.
What we did not have planned, and what turned out to be the absolute best, were house visits to a couple of the ladies homes. We went to see Nemo, a woman who has been with our branch in Memphis for a while now. She is originally from Abu Dhabi, and came to the States when she was 6. She is now married with 6 kids - ages 1 to 11. What a lady of peace! She speaked with such eloquence about her desire for people to get along, to recognize our similarities with each other rather than our differences. We were all captured by her passion and love for others. After setting up at the church, Denise wanted to show us around Hollywood, an area in which many refugee families live. We happened to come across several of Jenna Rose's kids, another one of the ladies that sews here. She has 12 children! We met 5 who were unloading groceries, and I cannot begin to describe how captured we were by these sweet kiddos. As tiring as it was, our sweet time with these women and their kids made it so worth it, as it does daily.
